Joy Watts, CEO of CPCU named "Credit Union Professional of the Year"

On June 14, 2010, Joy Watts won the prestigious Ronald J. Hutchins Award as the outstanding Credit Union Person of the Year at the 75th Annual Meeting of the North Carolina Credit Union League in Pinehurst. Watts received the award, one of the highest honors bestowed to credit union people in North Carolina, in a special awards ceremony Monday evening.

The Ronald J. Hutchins Award is given each year to a credit union professional and volunteer in order to recognize their outstanding accomplishments, time and effort given in support and promotion of the credit union ideal of people helping people. A committee made up of statewide credit union leaders selected Watts to receive the award.  Congratulations Joy!

Toys For Tots - Charlotte, NC
CPCU serves as a drop off for USPS employees (and anyone else) that would like to donate a new, unwrapped toy to a child in need.  We are proud to assist the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots program.  For more information on Toys for Tots in Charlotte please click here.

Operation CU Troop  - For the past several years Carolina Postal Credit Union and other NC credit unions collected personal items that were needed & appreciated by our troops overseas.

We also provide in our lobbies "A Rose of Thanks" thank-you card for the troops for our members to sign.  For more information on A Rose of Thanks for the Troops please click here.

PERF - Postal Employees Relief Fund

PERF is solely for USPS employees who are victims of major natural disasters and fires.  PERF is directed and maintained by USPS affiliated unions and management groups.

To help raise funds, Carolina Postal Credit Union  conducted a fund-raising drive for PERF during July, 2008.  Paper PERF mailboxes are sold at each CPCU branch and over $1,000 was raised and donated to PERF.  CPCU employees sold the mailboxes to members transacting business in the branches and there was a friendly competition between the Charlotte and Triad area of North Carolina over which group could raise the most money.

Operation CU Troop 2007

Carolina Postal Credit Union received hundreds of donated items for our troops overseas in the fall of 2007 during our annual Operation CU Troop drive.  Here are photos of our Operation CU Troop "journey" and the many volunteers that made it possible.

Special Thanks to the JR ROTC Cadets of the Phillip O Berry Academy of Technology in Charlotte for organizing, sorting and packing over 1,000 gift bags for the soldiers in the field.  The individual gift bags were distributed through the Charlotte Airport USO offices over the Christmas & New Year's holidays.

Additional thanks to the credit union volunteers that rented a large cargo van and delivered hundreds of Triad donations to the USO office in Jacksonville before Thanksgiving week-end.  Those donated items were distributed to the troops in Iraq before Thanksgiving!

The Victory Junction Gang Camp

You can view below The Victory Junction Gang Camp's moving video tribute to thank credit unions across the two Carolinas for their support of the camp for seriously ill children. The video includes scenes from Spina Bifida week in 2007, which was underwritten by the Carolinas Credit Union Foundation. In addition, volunteers from credit unions  helped staff the camp during the sponsorship week. The video also spotlights the five year commitment of credit unions to the camp in Randleman, NC.
